We recognise the decision to move a loved one into residential care can be a difficult one. Although many people are staying in their own homes longer, isolation and loneliness can lead to an increased risk of depression and other mental and physical health problems. Your loved one coming to a care home doesn’t mean that your role as a carer ends.
We very much encourage the continued support of family and friends, and we sometimes find our relationships with our loved ones improve as we spend quality time together without the stresses and time pressures of full-time care. Come and dine with your relative, bring grandchildren to watch a film in the cinema room, visit for scones in the tea room or enjoy the terraces and courtyard in the sun, our care home is a family home.
As a first step in getting to know new residents, we will ask them to complete an ‘About Me’ form which encourages them to share information about their background, wellbeing, preferences, interests and any concerns they may have. Here at Ashton Manor, our personal care teams work closely with families to create bespoke care plans for each resident, so they can continue to live a full and happy life with support along the way. Our philosophy of care values individuality – residents are encouraged to express who they are, continue with pastimes they enjoy, play music they love, try new experiences and entertain family members they value and care for.
At Ashton Manor, our spacious bedroom suites offer comfortable living space where residents can relax in privacy with their own en-suite wet room, television with video calling and call button for assistance. The tea room and lounge areas offer friendly spaces to meet others, make friends and take part in a varied programme of activities and events. Good food is of course also a priority: meals are balanced and nutritious, and favourite recipes can be requested.
