Astley View Care Home in Chorley was full of colour, music and community spirit as residents, families, staff and neighbours came together for a Wizard of Oz-themed Summer Fayre.
The gardens at our Chorley care home were transformed with yellow brick road decorations, colourful costumes and themed displays inspired by Dorothy, the Tin Man, the Scarecrow and the Cowardly Lion. Residents enjoyed helping to plan the fayre, and were delighted to see their home turned into a scene of Wizard of Oz magic.
On the day, there was something for everyone – from games, crafts and face painting for children, to local stalls, live entertainment and delicious food for all to enjoy. Families had a wonderful time celebrating with their loved ones, and staff were able to share the fun by bringing along their own families too.
Christina Durnan, Registered Manager at Astley View Care Home, said:
“Events like our Summer Fayre mean so much to the people who live and work here. It was wonderful to see families, neighbours and local businesses come together to celebrate in such a joyful way. The Wizard of Oz theme was a hit with everyone.”
The fayre also raised funds to support future community activities, ensuring even more opportunities for residents, families and local people to come together and enjoy special occasions.
