Astley View Care Home celebrates Valentine’s week with residents and their loved ones

Residents at Astley View Care Home in Chorley spent the week around Valentine’s Day enjoying a series of small activities centred on time together, familiar routines and welcoming families into the home.

One of the highlights was a couples’ lunch, where residents sat down with their partners and loved ones to share a meal in the dining room.

Across the week, residents also took part in relaxed social activities around the home, giving everyone the opportunity to join in as much or as little as they wished. For some, it was about being part of a group; for others, it was simply having company nearby.

At Astley View Care Home, the aim is always to keep everyday life feeling familiar. Relationships continue after someone moves in, and families remain part of daily life rather than occasional visitors. Events like this are less about celebration days and more about keeping normal routines and shared experiences going.

The team worked closely with residents to shape the activities so they reflected what people actually enjoy – good food, conversation and time with the people who matter to them.

Valentine’s week offered a simple opportunity to bring everyone together and reinforced what Astley View Care Home strives to provide: a place to live where life carries on, and where partners, relatives and friends are always part of the home.
