Residents at Astley View Care Home in Chorley were all smiles as they welcomed two very special visitors – a pair of miniature ponies.

The visit formed part of Astley View’s meaningful activities programme, which focuses on creating moments of joy, connection, and wellbeing for the people who live in the home.

Residents had the chance to stroke, brush and feed the ponies, sparking memories and conversations about pets and countryside life. The gentle nature of the ponies brought a real sense of calm and happiness, with the lounge filled with laughter, cuddles and a few happy tears.

The ponies made their way through the home, stopping to meet residents in communal areas and in their rooms. For many, the visit was a reminder of family days out, time spent with animals and the simple pleasure of caring for others.

Home Manager, Christina Durnan, added: “We love to welcome animals into the home whenever we can. Our residents light up when they visit – it’s one of those experiences that stays with you long after the day ends.”

Animal visits are a regular part of life at Astley View Care Home, alongside music, gardening, creative arts and other therapeutic activities that promote wellbeing and connection. As part of the Evermore Care family, the home is passionate about creating vibrant, inclusive environments where every day offers something to look forward to.
