Community Leaders Visit Evermore Care Homes During Care Home Open Week

Residents and colleagues at Evermore Care Homes were delighted to welcome a number of local dignitaries during Care Home Open Week, providing an opportunity to showcase life within the homes and celebrate the important role care homes play within their local communities.

Throughout the week, Ashton Manor Care Home in Lancaster welcomed Councillor Mandy Bannon, Cabinet Member for Communities, Well-being and Partnerships at Lancaster City Council, the Mayor of Lancaster, Councillor Colin Hartley, the Mayoress of Lancaster, and Cat Smith MP, Member of Parliament for Lancaster and Wyre.

At Astley View Care Home in Chorley, residents and colleagues were pleased to welcome the Mayor of Chorley, Councillor Debra Platt, who spent time meeting residents, speaking with colleagues and learning more about life at the home.

The visits formed part of Care Home Open Week, a national initiative that encourages care homes across the UK to open their doors, welcome visitors and celebrate the positive impact they have on the lives of residents, families and the wider community.

Guests spent time meeting residents and colleagues, learning more about the care and support provided across both homes and hearing about the activities, events and experiences that help create vibrant and welcoming communities. Visitors were also given the opportunity to tour the homes and see first-hand the facilities and environments available to residents.

The Mayor of Lancaster, Councillor Colin Hartley, said:

“Thank goodness for care homes. We are fortunate to have excellent care homes across our area, providing support, care and safety for those who need it. Families can be confident that residents are well cared for and supported to live their lives to the full.

“During our visit to Ashton Manor, we were impressed by the facilities available to residents and the warm, welcoming atmosphere throughout the home. Above all, what stood out was the dedication of the team, whose kindness and professionalism make such a difference to residents every day.”

Joanne Tyson, Home Manager at Ashton Manor Care Home, said:

“We were delighted to welcome so many visitors during Care Home Open Week. It was a wonderful opportunity to showcase our home, introduce residents and colleagues, and highlight the important role care homes play within their communities. We are proud of the warm and welcoming community we have created at Ashton Manor and were pleased to share that with our visitors.”

Christina Durnan, Home Manager at Astley View Care Home, said:

“Care Home Open Week is a fantastic opportunity to open our doors and help people learn more about life in a care home. We were delighted to welcome the Mayor of Chorley and share more about our home, our residents and the dedicated team who support them every day.

“These visits help strengthen our connections with the local community and celebrate the positive difference care homes make to people’s lives.”

Throughout the week, Ashton Manor and Astley View hosted a range of activities for residents, relatives, friends and local people, creating opportunities to build new connections, strengthen existing relationships and celebrate the sense of community that sits at the heart of both homes.
