Astley View Care Home in Chorley brought the festive season to life on Saturday 6 December, as residents, families and neighbours gathered for a Christmas Market that showcased creativity, local talent and plenty of seasonal activities for everyone.
In the run-up to the event, the home was already buzzing with activity. Residents took part in a wreath-making workshop with their families, adding handmade touches throughout the home and building a real sense of anticipation for the weekend. The preparations were as enjoyable as the event itself, giving residents the chance to try something new, share ideas and contribute to the look and feel of the market.

The Christmas Market offered a mix of local stalls, handmade crafts, games, raffles and festive treats. Families enjoyed browsing together, residents welcomed visitors into the home with pride, and guests from the local community took the opportunity to meet the team and see the home at its most vibrant. The atmosphere was warm, relaxed and genuinely uplifting – the kind of event that brings people together in a joyous and meaningful way.

Home Manager Christina Durnan said:“Our Christmas Market is a highlight for everyone here. It’s a chance for residents, families and our community to come together and enjoy the start of the festive season. The team and residents put so much into the preparations, and it was lovely to see it all come to life.”
The market is part of Astley View’s wider programme of year-round activities, designed to support creativity, connection and opportunities for residents to stay engaged and involved.
