Astley View Care Home Marks Carers Week with Staff Wellbeing Activities

Astley View Care Home in Chorley has been celebrating Carers Week by bringing colleagues together for staff wellbeing activities and inviting residents, families and visitors to share messages of appreciation for the home’s care team.

As part of the week, care workers and senior care workers took part in a Mandy Motivator fitness session, enjoying an afternoon of movement, laughter and plenty of smiles. The session provided an opportunity for colleagues to spend time together away from their usual routines, have fun and focus on their own wellbeing.

Alongside the activity, the home created a Carers Week Appreciation Board, encouraging residents, relatives, visitors and colleagues to leave messages of thanks for the team. The board quickly filled with comments recognising the kindness, support and commitment shown by staff every day.

Christina Durnan, Home Manager at Astley View Care Home, said:

“Carers Week is a wonderful opportunity to recognise the people who make such a difference to the lives of our residents every day. Our care team works incredibly hard to provide high-quality care and support, and it has been lovely to see so many messages of appreciation from residents, families, visitors and colleagues.

“The Mandy Motivator session was a great opportunity for the team to spend time together, have some fun and focus on their own wellbeing. Looking after our colleagues is just as important as looking after our residents.”

Carers Week is an annual campaign that highlights the contribution of carers across the UK and recognises the important role they play in supporting others. At Astley View, the week has provided an opportunity to celebrate the dedication, compassion and commitment of the home’s care team while bringing the wider home community together to say thank you.
