Staff at Ashton Manor Care Home in Lancaster brought festive cheer into the home today as they celebrated Elf Day, the national fundraising event supporting the Alzheimer’s Society.
The charity is one that means a great deal to many families and colleagues at Ashton Manor, and the team wanted to mark the day with something light-hearted that everyone could enjoy. Colleagues arrived for their shifts dressed in a whole range of elf outfits – from classic green and red to more imaginative creations – helping set a warm, joyful atmosphere throughout the home.

Throughout the afternoon, the team joined in a series of elf-themed activities including an elf sweepstake, guess the name of the elf, and word games focused on finding words that contain “elf”. The games quickly became a talking point around the home, sparking friendly competition and lots of conversation.
A highlight of the day was a mini parade through the home, where colleagues proudly showed off their costumes before residents helped choose the best-dressed elf. The parade brought laughter and smiles across the home, capturing exactly what Elf Day is designed to do – bring people together while raising awareness for an important cause.
To finish the afternoon, staff enjoyed peppermint cupcakes and Baileys hot chocolate topped with cream and marshmallows – a small festive treat shared in good company.

Joanne Tyson, Manager for Ashton Manor Care Home said: “Elf Day is always something our team enjoy getting involved in. It brings so much fun into the home and gives us a chance to support a charity that is very important to us and to the families we work alongside.”
