Here at Evermore Care, we believe that creating a vibrant and engaging environment is key to the wellbeing of our residents.
At Astley View, our residential care home in Chorley, the recent weeks have been a testament to this. As springtime blossoms, so too did the creativity of our residents in preparation for Easter. Our Easter bonnet competition was a highlight, with so many imaginative creations on display. It was particularly fun to welcome residents’ families to judge the colourful entries.
The excitement didn’t stop there! The thrill of the Grand National swept through Astley View, enjoyed by everyone in the comfort of our high-spec cinema room. Residents enthusiastically cheered on their chosen horses, creating a lively and shared experience within our care home community.
Beyond the special events, our regular weekly groups continue to be a cornerstone of life at Astley View. The gentle hum of conversation and the click of needles fill the air during our Knit and Natter group, providing valuable social interaction and a chance for residents to connect over a shared hobby. Meanwhile, the Men’s Club offers a relaxed and friendly space for companionship and shared interests, and the occasional pint.
Even the simple pleasures of a nature walk have been embraced, with residents enjoying the fresh air and gentle sensory stimulation of the outdoors. These moments contribute significantly to their overall wellbeing and provide a change of scenery.
A truly uplifting highlight of our week is always the visit from the ‘Singing for You’ choir. The power of music to evoke memories and bring joy is undeniable, making this a particularly beneficial and dementia-friendly activity for many of our residents. Singing together creates a beautiful sense of unity and happiness within our care home.
