Meet The Manager

We know how important it is to have an experienced and knowledgeable Home Manager running Ashton Manor. We are so excited to welcome Jacky to the team; she absolutely embodies the Evermore vision and values and is an incredibly welcome addition.

We took some time to catch up with Jacky, and find out a bit more about her, her role, her background, and what led her to Ashton Manor…

Can you tell us more about your background, and what your role entails?

I started working in care in 2005 as a domiciliary care worker, assisting people to maintain their independence within their own homes.  I found making a difference to people’s lives to be extremely rewarding and I’ve worked in the care sector ever since.  I gained various qualifications throughout my career, both work-based and independently learning. These include counselling, care management qualifications and (train the trainer) challenging behaviours among others.  My qualifications supported me to progress in my career.

What do you like about your role as Home Manager?

I like to draw on my skills and experience to try and implement innovative ideas, particularly within dementia care.  I love being part of a great team and reaping the rewards which comes from the satisfaction of knowing we’ve made a difference to our residents.

What’s the best bit about working at Ashton Manor?

Aston Manor is a beautiful purpose-built facility which has been carefully designed to enhance the living environment for our residents – a dementia friendly, homely environment with great attention to design and style.  The staff team genuinely care about the residents they support and going above and beyond is second nature to them.  I am fully supported in my role with a great senior leadership team who are dedicated to achieving outstanding standards of care across their services

How did first you get into care work?

My first ever part time job at the age of 14 was at a residential care home, cleaning and assisting with meals.  After university and having my children, I initially went into care work as the hours suited around childcare and my partner’s hours, I soon realised that I loved it and would never do anything else.  After a few years I decided that I wanted to progress with my career which saw me work my way up from carer to registered manager within a few years.  The majority of my career has been spent working in Southport and I have managed various services including residential, nursing, and dementia supported living.

What is it like to work at Ashton Manor?

It’s exciting to work at Ashton manor, their visions and innovations for outstanding care, mirror my own.  I have previously worked for other organisations where sadly the main focus for manager’s cannot always be enhancing the quality of care, due to various barriers.  At Ashton Manor, I am supported to bring a vision of quality to life.
