As a new build, Ashton Manor has not been exposed to any infection relating to COVID-19. Nevertheless, the health, safety and wellbeing of our visitors, staff and future residents, is our top priority. Please be assured that we continue to update and adapt our COVID-19 response plan in accordance with the latest UK Government, NHS and Public Health England rulings and recommendations, the regulatory and best practice guidance from the Care Quality Commission, (CQC).

As well as closely monitoring the guidance and advice set out by the Government and CQC, we conduct weekly organisational COVID-19 calls, responsible for ensuring our alignment to the evolving guidelines on care home safety.

Moving in

New residents have the option to either self-isolate in the comfort of their own home for 11 days, then join us in the care home where they will be tested for COVID-19 upon entering the building and supported to self-isolate for 3 more days until the result of the test is known.

Alternatively, new residents can move into Ashton Manor immediately where we will support them to self-isolate in their bedroom for a period of 14 days, during which time they will be tested for COVID-19.

Visiting our care home to see a loved one

We recognise that it is important to stay in touch with friends and family members who live at Ashton Manor and keep connected whenever possible. However, there are a number of guidelines we want you to follow to keep your friend or family member and other residents safe from Covid-19.

You will not be able to visit anyone in a care home if you:

  • have tested positive for COVID-19, whether or not you are displaying symptoms and are completing your 10 day isolation period
  • live in the same household as someone who has tested positive and you are completing your 14-day isolation period
  • have any coronavirus symptoms such as a high temperature, a new dry and persistent cough, a loss of taste or smell or you are generally feeling unwell
  • have been identified through the Test and Trace programme as a ‘contact’ of someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 and are within the 14-day isolation period

To ensure a smooth visit, we advise that any visitor:

  • Book your visit in advance.
  • Call us to complete the screening checklist by phone on the day you want to visit
  • Only have contact with the family member or friend you are visiting
  • Ensure you follow social distancing guidelines at all times at the home
  • Use hand sanitiser before and after your visit.
  • Visits to take place in our COVID-19 secure visiting pod enabling family and friends to visit loved ones safely.
  • You should not bring too many items, such as gifts, into the care home and check they are clean first.

We understand that visiting a loved one in care is difficult at the moment with guidelines continually changing. This is why we’re doing everything we can to ensure visiting our home is as easy as possible. To aid this, we’ve opened our COVID-19 secure visiting suite enabling family and friends to visit loved ones safely.

Our team

All Ashton Manor colleagues and consenting residents are subject to regular temperature and COVID tests to ensure cases are picked up early.

As well as the NHS Portal, we have established our own regional hubs to ensure we have enough PPE to stock our care homes for at least a month. We also encourage our team members to use PPE outside of work to further reduce their risk of exposure.

Other visitors to our home

The restrictions at Ashton Manor do not just apply to relatives and friends, but to all visitors. This includes members of our internal governance and leadership team. While we felt this was an important step to take in terms of reducing the risk of infection, we are very aware that these visits are an important part of ensuring the health and safety of residents and monitoring the quality of our care.

Please be rest assured that all visitors are briefed on the strictest infection control procedures and will be subject to the same control measures outlined for friends and family.
